What being CONSCIOUS means to me

Hi Guys!

In this blog post, I’d like to talk a little bit about what being conscious means to me. I use the ’Conscious lifestyle’ category on my blog, and I also use the term on Instagram a lot so I thought it would be good to write a little bit about what I mean when I say it.

So let’s start at the beginning! When I went vegan, I started to read a lot of books and articles about the topic and I also watched a lot of documentaries. If someone once understands the ethical side of veganism, it is easy to understand that it is all about being conscious. Being conscious of what you eat, of what you put into your body not just because of your own health, but also because of the planet and the animals. I’m not going into details about veganism, it is such a huge topic and I love talking about it, so I save it to another post.

One thing led to another and I quickly realized that veganism is in connection with minimalism and the zero waste movement too. So I started to dig into these topics too and it transformed the way I think and the way I live my life. Am I a minimalist? Do I live a zero waste lifestyle? The answer to the question is no. I don’t consider myself a minimalist and I don’t live a zero waste lifestyle either. I don’t like putting myself into boxes, into categories because in this world when everything is about the endless shopping of things, it is really hard to live a frugal life. In some parts of my life, I’m definitely a minimalist, while in other parts not so much. I radically try to make less waste, I use reusable cups when I drink coffee in coffee shops, I use reusable produce bags and tote bags, I have a menstrual cup, I use cloths instead of paper towels etc. Zero waste is not for everyone in every life situation but you can still do as much as you can with your resources.

So when I talk about being conscious, I generally talk about being conscious about our acts, about how much harm simple things can cause such as plastic or take away cups or supporting the fast fashion industry.I don't want you to feel like I'm judging if you are not vegan or if being conscious means something else to you. But I think it is super important to be aware of how much damage we can cause with simple things. It is also important to be aware of how we can transform the world we live in with small changes in our everyday lives. If you slip and make mistakes, don’t worry, everyone did! It is a journey and making mistakes is a part of it. Trust me, your life will change for good.

Maybe the changes you make seem small, but it will mount up.

We can make a change.

Cheers,

Kincső
