*A note from the future:
I wrote this post a couple months ago but then I never published it. Since the world is a weird place at the moment, I think we could all use some self-care.
One of my intentions for 2020 was to focus on self-care. Last year was challenging so I let a couple of good habits go out the window. So this year I’d like to focus on getting those habits back. I try to establish habits which help me to keep motivated and focus on things that are important to me.

In January I did a 7 days of self-care challenges which I originally saw on Sedona Christina’s YouTube channel. If you don’t know who she is, go check her videos out because she makes amazing content. During the challenge I concentrated on different aspects of self-care every day. There are so many small habits which can be beneficial for your health and mental wellbeing and they usually don’t take too much time from your day. You can incorporate these small things in your day even if you're busy.
love letter
DAY 1 started with writing a love letter to myself. Honestly, this was the hardest part of the challenge! Not that I have anything particular against myself, it’s just we often too critical with ourselves and we have too many expectations. But it's important - especially now- not to be too hard on yourself. It's okay to feel overwhelmed and it's okay to take a break.
treat your body
DAY 2 was about doing something nice for my body, I put a face mask on which was a lovely blue mask with spirulina. I also took huge bath with a sparkly bath bomb from Lush. It was lovely and relaxing! It's nice to have 15 minutes in the bath when I'm allowed to relax and do nothing.
extra tip: put on some relaxing music too ✨
meditate
On DAY 3 I meditated. I did a quick 10 minutes self-love meditation.I realized that meditation is so hard for me! Somehow I can’t turn off my brain and relax. So I’m actually thinking about doing a 30 days of meditation challenge soon. Meditation seems like a nice habit and I’d like to be better at it.
move
DAY 4 was about moving. I did a full body workout and also a quick yoga session because I’m currently doing a 30 days of yoga challenge too. I know sometimes it’s hard to get up and do some exercise but even a 20 minute workout can make a big difference!
drink
The theme of DAY 5 was drinking. Drinking at least 2 liters of water which doesn’t seem a lot but it made me realise I’m not drinking enough water during the day. It is a good idea to keep a water bottle around you all day because you can measure how much you’ve already drunk and you won’t forget to drink if it’s always on hand.
breakfast in solitude
DAY 6 was about eating breakfast in solitude. I usually eat my breakfast alone in the morning but I always watch something or I scroll my phone which is not a good habit. So solitude for me meant actually eating in silence without my phone or laptop.
read
DAY 7 was my favourite day! I wrote about reading in one of my previous posts. Reading is something that I love and I’d like to do more of so I really enjoyed this day! I also have a great book that I currently read so that helped too :)
All in all, I enjoyed this challenge because I did something every day which I’d like to focus on this year, so it was nice. It also made me realize that these habits don’t take too much time but they make me feel better. I hope I can stick to these habits in the future too!
Cheers,
K
