Sustainable + Low waste all purpose cleaner

In this blog post I’m going to share a natural All purpose cleaner recipe with you. From a couple simple ingredients - which I’m sure you already have in your home - you can make an efficient cleaning product. What’s best, it’s made from natural ingredients so it’s non-toxic and more sustainable for our Planet. Plus you can also save a couple single use plastic bottles along the way.

Cleaning products can have a great impact on the Planet. Most of the times we don’t need to use a highly toxic products filled with chemicals and artificial scents. There are more and more cleaning products on the shelves which are labelled ‘eco-friendly’ or ‘green’ as more people pay attention to buying natural products. A study shows that “products that had a sustainability claim on-pack accounted for 16.6% of the market in 2018” and “products marketed as sustainable grew 5.6 times faster than… their conventional counterparts”. Since it’s a gap on the market, products might not be as sustainable as the label says.

Making your own all purpose cleaner is easy and also cheap. You're only going to need:

  • Vinegar

  • Citrus peel

  • Essential oil

+ an empty spray bottle

The first step is to infuse the vinegar with orange peels. Put the orange in a jar and cover them with vinegar (I used about 500 ml) and add some essential oils too. I used 10-15 drops of grapefruit and eucalyptus. Let it sit for 4-6 weeks. This will help the vinegar smell to disappear. In a spray bottle add equal parts of vinegar and water and that’s it!

When it comes to cleaning there’s a few natural ingredients which can make wonders! Ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and castile soap.

Easy peezy lemon sqeezy!

Cheers,

K
