The year of self care and building habits


It’s almost 2020 which is still unbelievable to me! 2019 was a crazy year for me with a lot of changes, stress and figuring things out. Because of all the changes it was hard for me to keep on track with my habits and sometimes I forgot my priorities. In 2020 I’d like to focus on building healthy habits and self care routines.

I’m focusing on habits which are not only good for my body but also for my soul. One thing which really helps me focus and keep on track is yoga. It clears my mind and it’s so good for my body! I used to do yoga every single day, but in this year I let it slide a little bit. I’m the type of person who needs routine and if something changes in my environment - for example I move which I did 8 months ago - I find it hard to stick to that routine. The same thing happens if we travel, or we have visitors or I have a new job.

It is also easy to forget about self care. Especially if you are in a hard stage in your life, where you have a little bit of depression or anxiety and you’re simply not in the mood for exercising or reading or just taking a huge bath and taking things slowly.

I’d also like to try challenges this year! Challenges are great to get out of your comfort zone and find new habits. The first one probably will be a 30 days of yoga challenge from Yoga with Adrienne. I don’t have everything figured out just yet so I’m not sure what my tactic will be. But I’m sure I’d like to focus on healthy plant based meals, exercising and I’d like to incorporate habits such as journaling and reading more.

The period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is always a nice time to reflect on the past year and what you achieved and what you’d like to focus on in the upcoming year. It's always exciting for me to set new goals and keep working on old ones.
